Telepresence robots are videoconferencing robots that people can control remotely. The most affordable robots (Beam, which Wirecutter recommends, and Double) cost about $4,000. There's also the Kubi, which is much more affordable ($600), but also cannot move from room to room (which may not be important for your needs).
