Respiratory Rate

Neuroscientist Alan Watkins is an advocate for rhythmic breathing as a way of supporting mindfulness.

Average respiratory rates:

Age Breaths per minute
Infant 30 or more
Child 22-28
Adolescent 16-20
Adult (normal) 14-18 (women typically have higher rates than men)
Adult (abnormal) <10 and >20

Lots of different devices (including Fitbit and Apple Watch) can monitor breathing rates throughout the day. Some even offer a mindfulness feature that guide you through deep breathing sessions.
